Hishou Ayu, (飛翔鮎 literally translated as Ayu's Flight) is a vertically scrolling shooter developed by 天空時計 features Ayu Tsukimiya, the main heroine in Key's visual novel Kanon. It was released in Japanese arcades in 2004 and followed by the PC version in the same year. As is the standard with most arcade shooters, Hishou Ayu could be defined as a cute shooting game with some Cave reminiscences. There are two buttons each one assigned for a separate ability; shooting allows the player to rapidly fire in a continuous vertical line, and the other is bomb that spreads huge energy balls all around the character. Bomb also doubles the firepower and score, and it can be replenished by collecting hyper items dropped by vanquished enemies. At the end of the stage, remaining bombs are worth a lot of points. Hishou Ayu consists of five stages and no continues, if the player runs out of lives, they will be taken to the game over screen.
